Artist's Statement
Flowers and animals have fascinated me since childhood. I paint with a variety of media - watercolors, acrylics, oil and chalk pastel, aquaoils and colored pencil. My work is inspired not only by nature but also by an unseen world that is only half-remembered and exists now largely only in myth and legend. Art for me is a path back to the Source. Brilliant colors bring me happiness and I hope that my work provides the same joy to others.

Born and raised in New York state, I am of British and Native American ancestry. I have been a resident of Virginia for over ten years. I teach art in public school as well as privately. I hold a BA in English and Education, an MBA and an MS in Art Therapy. I have studied art on a post graduate level, but I remain largely self-taught. I am also a registered Art Therapist.

The tranquility that Nature and meditation provide me is essential to my artwork and tranquility is what I try to express. To be creative I need to be in a natural setting--in gardens and by water especially. Painting is my joy and freedom. I believe that art can heal the wounded soul as well as provide visions and insights from a deeper source.
